Chad Holbrook, who resigned as South Carolina baseball coach last week, took out a half-page ad in The State newspaper on Wednesday to express his gratitude to Gamecocks fans.
“Thank you Gamecock Nation for 9 incredible years,” Holbrook said in the ad. “Our family is blessed. Forever to Thee! Sincerely, The Holbrooks.”
The ad contains a photograph of Holbrook celebrating in the third-base coaching box as Scott Wingo heads home with the winning run on a hit by Whit Merrifield against UCLA in the 2010 College World Series. Holbrook was an assistant under Ray Tanner on that team.
