Halftime in Columbia: The Citadel 14, South Carolina 9

COLUMBIA — The Citadel is halfway to another shocker in Williams-Brice Stadium.

The Southern Conference co-champions outplayed South Carolina over much of the first half Saturday, and held a 14-9 lead at halftime. Cam Jackson set the tone with a 59-yard touchdown run on The Citadel’s second play of the game, and the Bulldogs limited the Gamecocks to a trio of Elliott Fry field goals.

Saturday’s game comes 25 years after The Citadel stunned South Carolina 38-35 in Columbia. USC has won 10 straight games over Football Championship Subdivision opponents since then, and no SEC program has lost to an FCS team since Jacksonville State upset Ole Miss in 2010.
