COLUMBIA — Defensive tackle Kobe Smith of Lawrenceville, Ga., has become the sixth player to sign with head coach Will Muschamp and enroll early at South Carolina, the program announced Friday.
Smith, 6-2 and 294 pounds, is considered a three-star prospect by recruiting services. He was ranked the 63rd-best defensive tackle prospect nationally by 24/7 Sports, and the No. 43 player in Georgia by ESPN.
Smith graduated from Archer High School at mid-semester. He originally committed to North Carolina State, and then Kentucky, before signing with the Gamecocks. As an early enrollee, he will be able to participate in spring practice.
