COLUMBIA — South Carolina’s road back to the Final Four will travel through … South Dakota?
That was indeed the case in the women’s NCAA Tournament bracket revealed Monday night. As expected, the Gamecocks (31-1) were the No. 2 overall national seed behind Connecticut. The big surprise came when the selection committee placed USC in the regional in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Gamecocks will host first- and second-round games at Colonial Life Arena beginning this week. Should USC advance, it would move to the regional site in South Falls rather than Lexington, Ky., which is the nearest regional site to Columbia and had been coveted by a Gamecocks program which thrives on fan support.
