Gamecocks suspend linebacker Sherrod Pittman for two games

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Another game under head coach Will Muschamp, and another suspension for a South Carolina football player.

USC announced prior to Saturday’s game at Mississippi State that Sherrod Pittman, a redshirt freshman linebacker, would be suspended against the Bulldogs and for the home opener next weekend against East Carolina for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Muschamp suspended four players for the same reason prior to last week’s opener against Vanderbilt, three of them — defensive back Toure Boyd and offensive linemen Alan Knott and Christian Pellage — for one game each, and defensive lineman Abu Lamin for three games.
