COLUMBIA — In the heat of a close game, Perry Orth has no doubts about Connor Mitch’s ability to keep his composure.
“He’s just a cool, calm guy, man,” said Orth, among those who battled Mitch in South Carolina’s quarterback competition. “He doesn’t get too flustered when things are going hectic. He just brings that calm composure to the offense to keep everybody settled in case something bad were to happen, or whatever. He’s just overall a calm guy. He understands the offense, and he’s a good player. He’ll be ready to roll.”
According to his teammates, composure is a defining quality of Mitch, who on Tuesday was named the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback for the Sept.
