The South Carolina football team had its first somewhat open padded practice on Tuesday. The three periods included two focused on special teams and one on the “cock drill,” one-on-one blocking/getting off blocks with a running back coming down a narrow chute. Observations from the 15 minutes:
u25aa Former quarterback Darius Douglas was taking the ball as a running back during the “cock drill.” He was not in a yellow non-contact jersey. The mobile passer came to USC as a walk-on from Berkeley High School. The 6-foot, 196-pound back ran for 760 yards and 13 scores as a high school senior.
