HOOVER, Ala. — As expected, South Carolina offensive lineman Brandon Shell has been moved to left tackle, according to the first Gamecocks depth chart of the 2015 preseason.
The Goose Creek native played right tackle his first three years, and missed the spring after undergoing shoulder surgery to repair a torn right labrum. But with the departure of Corey Robinson, who was drafted by the Detroit Lions, USC needed a more proven player at the left tackle positon to protect the blind side of likely first-year starting quarterback Connor Mitch.
That responsibility now falls to Shell, a rising senior who will carry a streak of 35 consecutive starts into USC’s Sept.
