Wide receiver Shi Smith (5-11, 175) of Union County committed to USC on Saturday, capping a week of multiple visits with the Gamecocks.
Smith camped with the Gamecocks last Monday, then returned on Tuesday and Thursday. On Saturday he was back on the USC campus for a 7-on-7 tournament, and it was then that he made his pledge to head coach Will Muschamp.
Smith had strong interest early on in his recruiting from Clemson. He also drew offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, N.C. State and Oklahoma. But he said no one recruited harder and with more consistency than the Gamecocks.
