COLUMBIA — When Tyson Lusk spoke to the members of South Carolina’s baseball team following last season’s NCAA Super Regionals, it wasn’t to congratulate them on the campaign they’d just finished. USC’s director of baseball operations had something much more personal to share.
That was when Lusk, in his third season at South Carolina and 11th in college baseball, informed players he is gay. Lusk shared his story with the website D1baseball.com on Tuesday, which is National Coming Out Day.
“They were very welcoming, very understanding,” Lusk told the website. “Several of them texted me or spoke to me independently and said, ‘I’m happy for you.
