Having secured two straight come-from-behind victories and on a bit of a roll, the South Carolina Gamecock men entered a tough, pivotal contest on the road against Texas A&M, needing to pick up an upset win to solidify their upward trajectory. USC did exactly that, mounting another second-half comeback and then hanging on to secure a big 74-63 win against the Aggies.
James Reese V powered the Gamecocks with 20 points, while Jermaine Couisnard (13 points) and Erik Stevenson (13) filled out the double-figure scoring and also contributed key baskets in South Carolina’s game-sealing run. The Gamecocks, who trailed 31-27 at the half and struggled to get over the hump and tie the game, ultimately used a 19-2 spurt with about 6 minutes remaining to match and then pass the Aggies in the scoring column.
