Strength and conditioning coaches can pose a danger to college football players because some are hired not on qualifications but due to their relationship with the head coach, former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore told a reform-minded commission.
“Some are brilliant. The ones I had in college were pretty good, but there were some on staff that, embarrassingly enough, I knew more than. I wouldn’t say the head guy, but he has a staff of about five or six guys who I knew more about correct technique, running and lifting weights,” Lattimore told CBS Sports after appearing on a panel at the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics.
