Former South Carolina football kicker Elliott Fry is getting his shot at the NFL — the Chicago Bears announced Friday that they have signed the one-time college walk-on to a three-year deal.
Fry will have to compete for a starting role against the two other kickers the Bears have signed this offseason after rookie Cody Parkey missed a crucial 43-yard field goal in the first round of the playoffs.
Fry left South Carolina as the program’s all-time points leader and recently spent time in the now-defunct Alliance for American Football, reuniting with his former coach Steve Spurrier on the Orlando Apollos.
