COLUMBIA — While Charleston Southern has traveled to South Carolina in each of the past seven seasons for midweek games, it’s been over a decade since the Buccaneers ventured up I-26 for a weekend series. So when USC head coach Chad Holbrook called Stuart Lake suggesting just that, CSU jumped at the chance.
“For our kids, this is exciting,” said Lake, a former Gamecocks assistant in his eighth season as CSU’s head coach. “We’ve been to Georgia, I think we’ve played everybody in the SEC East at their place, but we’ve never gotten to do a weekend at South Carolina.
