A’ja Wilson and the No. 4 South Carolina Gamecocks gave coach Dawn Staley a milestone victory and a warm homecoming with an 87-60 victory over Temple in Philadelphia on Thursday.
Staley, who is from Philadelphia and also coached at Temple, notched her 232nd win as South Carolina’s coach, which is a program record for all-time victories.
Wilson dominated, scoring 28 points and pulling down 12 rebounds as the Gamecocks (11-1) were never threatened. Ty Harris notched a double-double of her own, contributing 13 points and dishing out 11 assists. Fellow starters Alexis Jennings (10 points, nine rebounds), Doniyah Cliney (11 points), and Bianca Jackson (16) rounded out the Gamecocks who hit double figures.
