ROCK HILL — Bryan Dye went 5 for 5 with two home runs and seven RBIs to spark Charleston Southern to a rout of Winthrop on Saturday night at Winthrop Ballpark.
CSU (16-28, 4-13 Big South) hit a season-high four home runs and piled up 19 hits. Winthrop (24-21, 9-8) scored three late runs, but never threatened. The teams meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the rubber game.
Mike Sconzo had four RBIs and was 3 for 6 to add to the offensive explosion for the Bucs, who scored in six different innings.
Dye hit a three-run homer in the first off of Winthrop starter Zachary Slighter (4-5) to get the Bucs off to a hot start.
