South Carolina was back to its all-too-frequent offensive ineptitude on Saturday night, failing to capitalize on multiple chances in a close loss to Old Dominion.
The Monarchs were first on the board, going up 1-0 in the second inning on a home run from Matt Coutney. The Gamecocks tied things up in the fourth, when Braylen Wimmer doubled with one out, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI sac fly by Joe Satterfield. The final run of the game came on a bases loaded walk in the eighth.
As has happened to him often this season, USC starter Thomas Farr did a great job but took a loss after getting no help from his offense.
