Former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore is returning to football, this time on the sideline as a coach.
Lattimore was confirmed Monday as the head coach at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, the school announced in a Twitter post.
The move comes six months after the former Gamecocks star joined the Heathwood Hall coaching staff. Lattimore was named an offensive assistant at Heathwood Hall in May.
Lattimore’s playing career was derailed by a severe knee injury in October 2012 while playing for South Carolina against Tennessee. Although he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, he never fully recovered and did not get any carries in the NFL.
