Dutch Fork coach Tom Knotts said Bryce Thompson “will not sign at this point” with South Carolina when the second National Signing Day begins Wednesday.
Knotts wouldn’t answer any more questions about Thompson’s situation on Monday. The receiver/defensive back committed to South Carolina on Dec. 13, but there were questions if he would qualify for the Gamecocks.
Last week, Thompson said he thought would be able to work through academic issues and hoped to sign Wednesday.
Marshall has been pushing hard for Thompson if he wasn’t able to sign with USC. Members of the Thundering Herd coaching staff, including head coach Doc Holliday went to Thompson’s basketball game Tuesday.
