South Carolina sophomore defensive lineman Shameik Blackshear is sitting out practice this week due to a concussion, Gamecocks defensive line coach Lance Thompson said Thursday after practice.
“I’m not sure (when he’ll be back). That’ll be a decision for the medical staff,” Thompson said. “Injuries are part of the game. You just have to go with the next guy. When we get him back, we will get him in there.”
Blackshear, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound end from Bluffton, was at one time considered the best high prospect in the state of South Carolina, but his collegiate career has been set back thus far by a knee injury suffered in high school and a shooting injury suffered after he enrolled at USC.
