The Gamecocks fell short of sweeping UNCG this weekend as the offense took the day off in Columbia.
Both teams were held scoreless in the first two innings, but the Spartans got on the board in the third. Unfortunately, a leadoff walk, a passed ball and a misplayed ball by South Carolina all helped UNCG get the runner on and in.
That was the only run that scored all game, as neither offense could really get anything going. The only time the Gamecocks truly threatened was in the eighth inning. LT Tolbert singled to lead off the inning, Jonah Bride laid down a perfect sac bunt to move Tolbert up, and then Hopkins walked to put two runners on with one out.
