South Carolina had a chance to win their first SEC series in approximately 42 weeks (this is only a slight exaggeration) on Sunday. They came very close to doing so. And then they remembered this season is a nightmare and lost.
The Gamecocks got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Jonah Bride brought TJ Hopkins home on a groundout. That lead was short-lived though, because LSU tied the game, then took a 2-1 lead in the second inning.
The Tigers scored their third run of the game on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, but South Carolina regained the lead in the fifth.
