South Carolina cut the lead in half in the next inning, after Madison Stokes started things off with a double, then came home on a two-out RBI double from Marcus Mooney. Kentucky got the run back in the bottom of the inning, though, on a passed ball.
The Gamecocks pulled back within one run in the seventh inning, courtesy of a two-out homer from Jonah Bride. They took a 4-3 lead in the next inning, after DC Arendas led off with a single and came home on an RBI single from Dom Thompson-Williams.
