Gene Cone extended his hitting streak again, LT Tolbert and Alex Destino homered, and the Gamecocks just keep rolling
The Gamecocks are good at baseball, y'all.
They trailed early tonight, as Kentucky took a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a home run by Riley Mahan. South Carolina had a chance to cut into that lead in the second inning, as they got the bases loaded, but they weren't able to capitalize.
They didn't wait much longer to end the shutout, though, getting on the board in the third inning. Dom Thompson-Williams led off with a single (though he later got caught stealing), Alex Destino made it to first base thanks to an error, and with two outs, Jonah Bride knocked an RBI base hit to make it 3-1.
