The South Carolina Gamecocks picked up their fifth offensive line commit of the 2015 recruiting season this week, gaining a pledge from 3-star Lilburn (GA) Parkview offensive lineman Trey Derouen.
“It was pretty awesome, what stood out was how they treated us,” Derouen said of the official visit to South Carolina that turned the tide for the Gamecocks, via 247Sports. “What was coming with facilities, Coach Elliott and all the offensive line commits, well really all the commits, they seemed like a family.”
Derouen was originally a Mississippi State commit, and also held offers from Louisville, Florida, Duke, Boston College, and others. However, despite an in-home visit by Lousville head coach Bobby Petrino and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham on Wednesday night, Derouen was South Carolina all the way.
Standing at 6-foot-3.5, 325 pounds, Derouen is ranked as the 66th best offensive guard in the nation by 247Sports.
