THOMASVILLE, Ga. – University of South Alabama women's tennis sophomore Alina Zolotareva (Barnaul, Russia) won the A draw final at the Thomasville Invitational Sunday at the Glen Arven Country Club.
Zolotareva defeated her teammate, freshman Malika Auger-Aliassime (Montreal, Quebec, Canada), 7-6, 6-0.
The Jaguar duo teamed up in doubles, but fell 8-5 to Laura Ubeda and Sabrina Schmidt in the semifinals.
"This weekend was a good starting point for both girls," USA assistant coach Shayann Vaezzadeh said. "It is great validation for Alina with regards to 2-3 weeks of good practice leading to solid output within pressure situations.
