NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama football wide receiver Jamarius Way put on a record-setting performance in the Jaguars' first win of the season over the weekend, and as a result on Monday the senior was voted the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
It's the first time in his career that the preseason second-team all-league selection has claimed a weekly conference honor. He is just the second Jaguar wideout to win the award, joining Shavarez Smith who earned the distinction on Dec. 2, 2013.
Way, who hails from Belle Glade, Fla., hauled in 11 passes for 173 yards — both career-high totals — and a touchdown to help South defeat Texas State 41-31 in the first conference game of the season.
