When South Alabama was trying to run out the clock in its 19-8 win at Troy last week, the Jaguars didn't turn to one of their half-dozen or so scholarship running backs to carry the ball.
Instead, it was fifth-year senior walk-on Denzel Foster who got the call. The 5-foot-8, 212-pound native of Riverside, Calif., has become a reliable third running back for the Jaguars after not playing in a game in more than two years.
"He can bounce off of hits," South Alabama running backs coach Tim Bowens said. "It's not as much power, but he can squeeze through a hole.
