Versatile Chickasaw athlete AJ Phillips has committed to play his college football at South Alabama.
The news was first reported by Jags Jungle.
Phillips has played both offense and defense for the Chieftains. First-year Chickasaw coach Jason Rowell said South Alabama is recruiting him as a hybrid outside linebacker.
"With his size (5-10, 206) and speed, I definitely think he's versatile enough to play the position at that level," Rowell said.
Phillips also has offers from Alabama A&M, Middle Tennessee, Troy and UAB.
Playing quarterback, running back and safety for Chickasaw a year ago under then-coach John Beverly, Phillips accounted for more than 1,400 yards of total offense and 100 tackles on defense.
