MOBILE, Ala. – Athlon Sports released its preseason All-America football teams on Tuesday, and the University of South Alabama's Corliss Waitman was among the specialists recognized.
A rising senior from Milton, Fla., Waitman was chosen preseason third-team All-America by the organization, which also has listed him preseason first-team all-Sun Belt Conference this offseason.
Last fall, Waitman averaged a school-record 45.24 yards per punt with 26 kicks inside the opponent's 20-yard line and 21 punts of 50 or more yards; that included posting an average of 45 yards or higher in seven of 12 contests with at least two punts inside the 20 nine different times.
