MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's basketball team has now won four of its last five season openers with a 63-59 victory over Mobile at the Mitchell Center on Tuesday.
In her South Alabama debut, Zena Elias recorded a double-double with a career-high 13 points and 13 rebounds. Mahogany Vaught led the Jags in with both 14 points and four assists.
For the Rams, Sydney Sims, Breannah McCullah and Mary Denman Luker had 12 points apiece. Sims also recorded a game-high five assists.

- South Alabama trailed Mobile for the first seven minutes of the game until a set of three free throws from Jaylin Powell — who was responsible for seven of the Jaguars' first nine points — pushed them to an 9-8 advantage.
