Last year when he was trying to catch on with the New York Giants as an undrafted rookie, wide receiver K.J. Maye had one reception for 17 yards in the preseason. The former Murphy High School standout didn't survive the roster cut to reach the regular-season limit of 53 players.
Signed by the New England Patriots on July 30, Maye eclipsed last year's preseason total in one game this year.
In the Patriots' 31-24 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night in the opening game of New England's preseason schedule, Maye caught six passes for 34 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown reception that tied the game in the third quarter.
