The first South Alabama alumnus to be selected in the NFL Draft became the first former Jaguar to start an NFL game and the first one to catch a pass on the first Sunday of the NFL's 2017 season.
Gerald Everett became the third former South Alabama player to appear in an NFL regular-season game on Sunday. Like the previous two - Wes Saxton and Braedon Bowman - Everett is a tight end. Unlike Saxton and Bowman, Everett didn't play for the Jets.
Everett joined the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the NFL Draft on April 28 as the 44th player picked.
