WEST POINT, Miss. – Peter Staalbo carded scores below par in each of Monday's two rounds on the opening day of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship, not only leading the University of South Alabama men's golf team but the entire field after the completion of 36 holes.
Staalbo began with a 3-under-par 69 then followed with a 70 for a 5-under-par 139 total. He is one shot in front a pair of individuals — Martin Eriksson of McNeese State and Mississippi's Braden Thornberry — while topping a field of 83 players on the first of two days at the event.
