Former South Alabama baseball coach Steve Kittrell is part of the 2019 class for the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the ABCA announced Thursday.
Kittrell coached 28 seasons at South Alabama, compiling a 1,052-644-1 record with 18 NCAA tournament appearances before retiring in 2011. He also spent a year at Spring Hill College, posting a 32-19 mark.
"I'm extremely honored," Kittrell said. "I served on the ABCA All-American committee for seven years, and I found out first-hand how well-run of an organization it is and how respected it is around the country. As a coach, you're only going in (Hall of Fame) because of your assistant coaches and players and the hard-work ethic and talent they had.
