Steve Campbell and both his coordinators have Division II national championship rings from Troy, but they all insisted Monday that South Alabama's upcoming game with the Trojans isn't bigger or more important than any others.
The Jaguars (2-5, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) have a bye this week before hosting the Trojans (5-2, 3-0) in the annual "Battle for the Belt" at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be televised live via ESPN2.
Campbell, offensive coordinator Kenny Edenfield and defensive coordinator Greg Stewart were teammates on the 1987 national title team at what was then Troy State.
