South Alabama was unable to send head coach Joey Jones and its 19-man senior class out with a victory on Saturday.
The Jaguars dropped a 22-17 road decision to New Mexico State, ending their season at 4-8. It was the final game at USA for Jones, who announced his resignation Nov. 20 after nine seasons.
"It's been awesome," Jones said in his post-game radio interview on 99.5-FM The Jag. "I love (South Alabama). It's going to always be a special part of my heart. We've laid foundation and gotten some good things done. It's been an awesome experience.
