South Alabama and Mississippi State both hit multiple home runs on Sunday night in the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional, but the Bulldogs had the good fortune of having two men on base for one of theirs.
Mississippi State scored five runs in the third inning -- including Cody Brown's three-run homer -- on the way to a 7-3 victory over the Jaguars at Pete Taylor Park. South Alabama -- which got a pair of solo homers by Wells Davis -- sees its season end at 40-21 after having lost 8-3 to Southern Miss earlier in the day.
Mississippi State, which lost to South Alabama 6-3 in the regional's first round on Friday night, stays alive to face top-seeded Southern Miss in Monday's championship round.
