On Sunday, Drew LaBounty will be honored at Stanky Field as part of Senior Day festivities for the South Alabama baseball team.
The following morning, he'll be on an operating table as doctors make another attempt to restore the vision in his left eye.
LaBounty's college baseball career ended abruptly on Feb. 2, when he foul tipped a ball into his eye during a preseason intrasquad scrimmage. The Jaguars' two-time All-Sun Belt Conference shortstop was rushed to the hospital with what turned out to be a ruptured eye ball, a detached retina and a fractured orbital socket.
