South Alabama center Chyna Ellis and guard Savannah Jones claimed two of the major Sun Belt Conference women's basketball individual awards for 2017-18, it was announced Monday.
Ellis, a 6-foot-1 senior from Cordova, Tenn., was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year for the second time in three years. She also claimed a spot on the All-Sun Belt first team.
Ellis -- who was also Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year in 2015-16 -- leads the Jaguars in scoring (13.8 points per game) and rebounding (8.7). She is the school and Sun Belt's all-time leader in blocked shots with 324.
