MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama track and field's Emilie Berge was named first-team academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Berge, the graduate from Iveland, Vest-Agder, Norway, is the first female student-athlete and third to be honored on multiple occasions (Brey Curtis, 1996-97, Jan-Louw Kotze, 2015-17) in South Alabama history.
Berge was named to the academic all-district team for the second consecutive year back in July alongside teammate Hunter Appling. A three-time All-American, Berge earned second-team honors in both the heptathlon and pentathlon during the 2019 campaign, while recieving honorable mention accolades in the heptathlon during the spring 2018 season.
