South Alabama tight end Andrew Reinkemeyer has applied to the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility, Jaguars head coach Steve Campbell confirmed on Monday.
Reinkemeyer, a Kansas native, missed the entire 2016 season with a torn Achilles tendon suffered in junior college the previous year. He returned to full health in 2017, and ended the season as USA's starting tight end.
Campbell said Reinkemeyer has not heard a final decision from the NCAA, but will be allowed to practice while he waits. The Jaguars open spring camp on Thursday.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Reinkemeyer finished the 2017 season with 10 receptions for 75 yards, tops at his position on the team.
