The South Alabama board of trustees is set to vote on a resolution to construct an on-campus football stadium at its Friday meeting, according to the meeting agenda.
The stadium would seat approximately 25,000 and cost $72 million to construct, according to a resolution included with the agenda. The proposed stadium would be built in time for the 2020 season, with construction to begin in July.
Since the program's inception in 2009, South Alabama has played home games at 40,000-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The city-owned stadium was built in 1948.
