South Alabama scored six runs in the first inning to spark a 12-0 victory over Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt Conference tournament Friday in Lafayette, La.
The fourth-seeded Jaguars (32-24) remain alive in the tournament, but must beat top-seeded Coastal Carolina twice on Saturday to advance to Saturday's championship game. CCU beat USA 16-4 on Thursday.
On Friday, Jared Proctor (5-1) pitched a three-hit shutout as the Jaguars beat the Eagles for the second time in the tournament and fifth time this season. The left-hander struck out five and did not walk a batter in seven innings of a game halted after seven by 10-run rule.
