South Alabama was shut out for the first time in more than a year in a 12-0 loss at Coastal Carolina on Sunday, a game shortened to seven innings by mercy rule.
The Jaguars (17-13, 7-4 Sun Belt Conference) dropped the final two games of the series after beating the No. 18 Chanticleers (23-11, 10-2) on Friday. South Alabama had not failed to score since a 2-0 loss at Mississippi State on March 10, 2017, a span of 77 games.
South Alabama managed just three hits on Saturday, a double by Dylan Hardy and singles by Travis Swaggerty and Hunter Stokes.
