South Alabama made sure Troy's tenure as the darlings of the college football world didn't last long.
The Jaguars rode an opportunist defense to a stunning 19-8 upset of the Trojans in the "Battle for the Belt" at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night. Just 10 days after Troy (4-2, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) won at LSU, South Alabama (2-4, 1-1) forced four turnovers in handing the Trojans a humbling home loss to their in-state rivals.
"I know we've got a good football team," South Alabama coach Joey Jones said. "I never doubted them, I love them.
