South Alabama rallies for 7-5 win over Southern Miss, advances to meet Florida State

South Alabama scored six runs in the sixth inning Sunday to beat Southern Miss 7-5 and stay alive in the NCAA Baseball Tallahassee Regional.

The Jaguars (42-21) advance to meet top-seeded host Florida State later Sunday afternoon. South Alabama must beat the Seminoles Sunday and again Monday to win the regional and head to the Super Regional round.

"Survive and advance – that's the name of the game in the postseason," South Alabama coach Mark Calvi said. "That's what we did today. I am really proud of our guys' effort against a really good Southern Miss team that had its way with us the other day and was having its way with us at the start of this game.
