South Alabama practice facility construction work set to resume

Reconstruction work is set to begin "any day" on South Alabama's covered football practice facility with a goal of being completed this summer, athletics director Joel Erdmann told AL.com on Monday.

The facility, known as the Jaguar Training Center, collapsed while under construction last July. Following an independent engineering investigation, it was determined that "inadequate bracing" led to the collapse.

Cleanup began on the construction site in September, and the replacement steel began arriving on campus last week. Erdmann said reconstruction of the structure -- which will be covered but not completely enclosed -- will begin soon.
