South Alabama on Friday announced the formation of a "Get On Campus" campaign geared toward funding a football stadium by the 2020 season.
University president Tony Waldrop made the announcement at Friday's board of trustees meeting. The move comes after the school was turned down for partial funding of the $73 million project by both the Mobile City Council and Mobile County Commission, as well as the South Alabama Foundation.
"Now is the time for us to move forward," Waldrop said. "We are committed to having an on-campus stadium at South, and we are committed to doing everything in our power to have that stadium open for the 2020 football season.
