South Alabama on Wednesday picked up a 2019 verbal commitment from Georgia high school defensive tackle Desmond Barkley.
The 6-foot-2, 330-pound Barkley, from Stockbridge High School, announced his commitment via Twitter:
Barkley also had scholarship offers from Troy, Southern Miss and Georgia State, among other schools. He is South Alabama's seventh verbal commitment for the 2019 class, joining Chickasaw running back AJ Phillips, Georgia wide receiver Keelan Marion, Florida linebacker Tavian Williams, and a trio of junior-college offensive linemen: Kent Foster, Conner Estes and Jacob Shoemaker.
